TikTok Shop accelerates its expansion in Europe and America, offering global e-commerce services
With the rapid rise of short video e-commerce, TikTok Shop is accelerating its global expansion, targeting developed e-commerce markets such as Europe and America.
TikTok Shop plans to add eight new sites in Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Canada, Japan, and South Korea by 2024 to further expand its e-commerce business.
With its large international user base, TikTok Shop is gradually extending its e-commerce presence to major global markets. Currently, TikTok Shop has entered several countries in Southeast Asia, as well as the markets in the UK and the US. Its global GMV reached $13.8 billion in 2023, showing strong growth momentum.
Particularly in the Southeast Asian market, the total GMV of countries such as Indonesia and Thailand reached $11.86 billion.
Store banning issues and analysis of reasons
However, some US sellers have reported that their stores were banned shortly after entering TikTok Shop. The issue of easily getting banned has caused many troubles for sellers. The following are some common reasons for banning:
- Non-compliant store information:Some sellers use forged information to register local stores, which is easily detected by the platform.
- Product issues: Sellers launched counterfeit goods or imitation products, and were directly banned after the platform inspection.
- Shop Inactivity:Failure to upload new products, post corresponding videos, etc. may be regarded as an idle shop.
- Bulk Registration:The platform is combating the practice of bulk registration, buying and selling shops, and other activities, which is also a common reason for bans.
TikTok's requirements for standardized operations have been detailed to every link, from qualification review to later operations, all screening for violations. False registration and simulated operations are unlikely to pass through the multiple layers of monitoring, proving the strictness of the platform's supervision.
Industry insiders have pointed out that this is closely related to TikTok's strategy for global development. In order to enter the developed markets of Europe and America, TikTok must establish a trustworthy platform image, strengthen standard operations, and align with international standards. This also pertains to the image of 'Made in China' going global. Therefore, the platform's stance against violations will be much tougher.
Adherence to Standards and Honest Business Practices
For sellers, it is even more important to comply with the regulations in the new environment. They must not use fraudulent delivery methods or engage in cheating in terms of registration qualifications or product selection. Integrity is the business philosophy that every seller must remember. Only by operating legally and complying with the rules can they survive and thrive on the platform.
